ASC launches small-scale programmes to support sustainable aquaculture in Asia
The Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) has launched support programmes aimed at small-scale farmers in Asia to promote sustainable aquaculture practices. These initiatives focus on increasing awareness and demand for ASC-certified products, with the goal of enhancing sustainability in the region's aquaculture sector. ASC CEO Chris Ninnes acknowledged that fostering a market for sustainably certified products is a long-term endeavour. The programmes are designed to help small producers improve environmental and social standards, thereby contributing to global sustainability efforts while addressing challenges unique to small-scale farming operations in Asia.
