Automated Seagrass Planter in development to help restore UK marine ecosystem's
Earth Change, a division of the Land & Water group, has partnered with marine conservation organisation Project Seagrass to develop and test an Automated Seagrass Planter (ASP) aimed at large-scale seagrass planting. The ASP, still in a trial phase, aims to restore and conserve the UK's seagrass ecosystems, raising awareness of its importance in mitigating climate change. Unlike manual planting, the ASP, placed on a multicat vessel's deck, can plant over 2,000 biodegradable seapods/sacks of seagrass a day, minimising environmental impact. Globally, seagrass captures carbon rapidly, accounting for a significant portion of the ocean's carbon storage. (
