Bouman and Conoship form ship-based carbon capture partnership

Bouman Industries and Conoship International have formed a joint venture, Carobotreat Maritime, to build ship-based carbon capture systems. The partnership aims to help shipowners and operators reduce CO2 emissions on both newbuild and existing vessels. Carbotreat Maritime will develop systems suitable for coastal ships smaller than 10,000 kW. The partners, who have been involved in the EverLoNG project since 2021, claim that adding a ship-based carbon capture system can reduce shipboard CO2 emissions by up to 95%, with the captured CO2 potentially reused to produce synthetic methane onshore.
