Brazil could install up to 96GW of offshore wind by 2050: report

Brazil could install up to 96GW of offshore wind capacity by 2050, comprising almost 20% of the country’s entire generation capacity, according to a report conducted by DNV for the World Bank. Under intermediate projections, Brazil could install 32GW by mid-century, comprising 6% of the total generation capacity, while under the base case, the estimate is 16GW by 2050, or 3% of generation capacity. The country’s offshore energy potential is in excess of 1200GW, with 480GW from fixed foundations and 748GW from floating foundations. The report supports Brazil’s green hydrogen targets, seeing the potential for up to 516,000 jobs and for $168bn in national gross value under the Ambitious scenario. (Renews.Biz)
