Convex Survey Seascape research group sets out to uncover ocean's carbon secrets

The Convex Seascape Survey, a five-year global research initiative, addresses the critical question of how the ocean influences climate change. Focused on understanding the dynamics of the carbon cycle across continental shelves, the project explores the role of mangroves, seagrass, and saltmarsh ecosystems in carbon sequestration. By generating reliable, open-source data, the survey aims to inform sustainable ocean management and maximise carbon storage capabilities. The project also emphasises communication and education to raise awareness of the link between ocean health and climate, engaging various stakeholders, especially young people, in urgent efforts to protect and preserve ocean carbon to mitigate global temperature rises.
