CICE invests $2m in ocean-based carbon dioxide removal projects
The British Colombia Centre for Innovation and Clean Energy (CICE) is investing $2m in two ocean-based carbon dioxide removal (CDR) projects. Planetary Technologies and Coastal Carbon will use these funds for pilots and field trials to assess the effectiveness and environmental impact of ocean-based CDR methods. Oceans, as the largest carbon sinks, can store 50 times more CO2 than the atmosphere. CICE's initiatives aim to develop safe, effective carbon removal techniques, crucial for reducing 10 gigatons of CO2 annually by 2050 while ensuring the health of coastal ecosystems and communities.
