Colombian government allocates $9.6m to boost fisheries and aquaculture

The Colombian government, under Gustavo Petro, will invest approximately $9.6m in the fishing, piangua, and aquaculture sectors in the Pacific and Nariño regions. The initiative, part of the Action Plan for Regional Transformation, aims to benefit communities such as El Charco and Mosquera. The project, involving community leaders and organisations, will be funded by the Territory Renewal Agency, the Rural Development Agency, and the Government of Nariño, with the FAO as an implementing partner. The initiative includes a gender and differential approach to improve the living conditions of local women. (América Economía)
