El Niño's cessation marks the end of a period characterised by record-high global temperatures and significant weather events. La Niña, expected to develop by September, may lead to hotter summers and a hyperactive hurricane season in the Atlantic. While El Niño's impact included increased ocean and air temperatures and extreme weather events, La Niña's influence could further challenge global climate stability.
