Energy giants collaborate to explore offshore carbon capture and storage in Malaysia

PETRONAS, ADNOC, and Storegga have formed a major partnership to evaluate the potential for carbon capture and storage (CCS) in offshore Malaysia, specifically in the Penyu basin. The joint study aims to develop a CCS facility with a capacity of at least 5 million tonnes per year by 2030. The project will include comprehensive studies on CO2 logistics, reservoir simulation, and the use of artificial intelligence to enhance storage capacity. This initiative aligns with PETRONAS' goal of establishing Malaysia as a regional CCS hub and represents a significant step in global efforts to combat climate change.  (Pipeline Technology Journal)
