      EPA grants clean air permit for New York offshore wind project


      The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued a Clean Air Act permit to Empire Offshore Wind LLC, a subsidiary of Equinor, following an analysis ensuring compliance with federal air quality standards. The project, comprising two offshore wind farms, Empire Wind 1 and Empire Wind 2, is set to generate over 2,000 MW of electricity from 147 turbines, powering approximately one million homes in New York State.
