Extreme weather events occurring across the globe
Above-average sea surface temperatures are affecting much of the Mediterranean, notably the eastern areas, with deviations of 3C-4C above normal. The Black Sea is experiencing anomalies of 4C-6C, constituting marine heatwaves. These conditions harm marine ecosystems and intensify weather systems. In the US, a pre-Thanksgiving storm may bring rain, thunderstorms, and snow to the east. Brazil is facing extreme heat, with temperatures hitting record highs, causing over 2,000 fires in the Pantanal wetlands. More than 3,000 Brazilian towns are on heat red alert, affecting millions. The country anticipates continued extreme temperatures and potential heavy rains with storms. (
