FEAP calls for the EU to establish a Common Aquaculture Policy
The Federation of European Aquaculture Producers (FEAP) has called for greater priority on food production in the EU to address the stagnation of aquaculture in Europe. FEAP responded to a report from the European Court of Auditors (ECA) critical of the EU's efforts to boost the aquaculture sector. FEAP identified the need for increased ambition regarding food production in the EU and the creation of a Common Aquaculture Policy. The organisation agreed with the ECA and the European Commission that there are no commonly accepted indicators to assess sustainable aquaculture development but suggested using parameters jointly drawn up by FEAP and the Aquaculture Stewardship Council.
