# Good Farm Animal Welfare Awards highlight aquaculture producers

The Good Farm Animal Welfare Awards, held in Paris last month by Compassion in World Farming, honoured aquaculture leaders among its 49 winners. Regal Springs, producing tilapia across three countries, won the Aquaculture Innovation Award for prioritising fish welfare and community support. Dutch retailer Albert Heijn received a Special Recognition award for enhancing shrimp welfare through stocking density reductions and electrical stunning. Marks & Spencer and FAI Farms developed a shrimp welfare monitoring protocol, also earning special recognition. Chilean salmon producer Cermaq was awarded for adopting humane stunning methods. These awards underscore growing recognition of aquatic species' welfare needs and innovations in humane aquaculture practices.
