Green corridor initiative connects Hamburg and Shanghai ports
The Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) and the Port of Shanghai have signed an MOU to establish a green shipping corridor, aiming to decarbonise maritime transport and promote sustainable development. Key initiatives include providing shore power at container terminals, encouraging the use of eco-friendly fuels, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders such as shipping companies and energy suppliers. The corridor aligns with Germany’s National Action Plan for Climate-Friendly Shipping (NAPS). HPA has also formed partnerships with ports in Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and South Korea, emphasising global cooperation in maritime decarbonisation efforts. (
