Green Marine Europe programme doubles participation in environmental certification

Green Marine Europe, an environmental certification programme for the maritime sector, has doubled its participants to 66 across 10 European countries in two years. The membership includes ship owners, shipyards, research institutes, and maritime associations. In 2023, 28 out of 31 shipyards were certified, with the rest set for evaluation next year. Additionally, the programme launched the EU-funded CirclesOfLife project to promote sustainable shipbuilding. With plans to expand certification to ports by 2026, Green Marine Europe also initiated Green Marine International to streamline global governance and standards. Key environmental advancements focus on reducing emissions, waste, and noise impacts. (Offshore Energy
