EU to launch €8m funding call for advancing ocean energy technology

The EU's Horizon Europe program will launch an €8m ($8.9m) funding call in September 2024 to support two projects aimed at enhancing the sustainability, reliability, and cost-efficiency of ocean energy devices. The "Critical Technologies for Future Ocean Energy Farms" initiative will focus on developing sustainable materials, improving mooring and power transmission systems, and integrating advanced sensor technology and AI into ocean energy systems. The projects aim to improve the performance and durability of ocean energy technologies, reduce costs, and enhance understanding of their operation and sustainability. The call opens on 17 September 2024 with a submission deadline of 4 February 2025. (Offshore Energy)
