Lack of port infrastructure threatens Scotland’s offshore wind boom
Quantum Energy Partners, a Texas-based private equity firm, is investing in the transformation of the derelict Ardersier Port in north-east Scotland into a hub for wind turbines to meet the growing demand for the transportation of wind turbines for Britain's net-zero transition. The UK's efforts to pivot toward greener power sources have been hampered by the lack of suitable port infrastructure, and investors such as Quantum are betting on the potential in this sector. The UK aims to increase offshore wind power to 50 GW by 2030, and Scotland alone is looking to provide 28 GW through ScotWind. (
