Human activity is significantly harming the Baltic Sea: report

The Baltic Sea is facing "critical challenges" due to climate change and biodiversity degradation, according to a report from the Baltic Marine Environment Protection Commission. Fish stocks are dangerously low, pollution and resource extraction are persistent pressures, and little improvement in the sea's health has been observed between 2016 and 2021. The report emphasises the need for transboundary cooperation and a shift toward environmentally sustainable practices to address the Baltic Sea's critical challenges stemming from human activities.
