International consortium develops tool to standardise sea louse dispersal models
An international consortium, including the University of Strathclyde, The Norwegian Institute of Marine Research, and the Aquaculture Research Station of the Faroes, is developing a tool to standardise sea louse dispersal model validation. The SAVED (Sustainable Aquaculture: Validating Ectoparasite Dispersal Models) project, funded by the Sustainable Aquaculture Innovation Centre (SAIC), aims to create a robust Python script and a 'data dictionary' to ensure consistent results across the various models used by the industry. This tool will enhance accuracy in predicting sea louse risks to wild fish populations. The free online tool will integrate data from Scotland, Norway, and the Faroe Islands, benefiting the global aquaculture sector. (
