Japan launches first offshore floating solar plant in Tokyo Bay Area

SolarDuck, in collaboration with Tokyu Land Corporation and Kyocera Communication Systems, has installed Japan's inaugural offshore floating solar photovoltaic (OFSPV) power plant in Tokyo Bay. The initiative is part of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s Tokyo Bay eSG Project, aiming to demonstrate the potential for local energy production for local consumption using renewable sources. The project will also explore energy storage solutions and the use of this energy for electric mobility and navigation within the Bay Area, highlighting its potential as a model for urban energy solutions worldwide.
