Mediterranean Restorative Aquaculture Centre launches in Spain
The Mediterranean and Black Sea regions have taken a significant step in sustainable aquaculture with the upcoming opening of the Mediterranean Restorative Aquaculture Centre in La Rapita, Spain. The centre, a collaboration between the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean and Catalonia's Departament d’Acció Climàtica, Alimentació i Agenda Rural, is set to commence by the end of 2024. It will focus on restorative aquaculture practices that enhance ecosystem services, offering both ecological benefits and economic opportunities for local communities, while also addressing climate change through innovative and sustainable aquaculture techniques.
