Biotech startup MiAlgae secures £14m for sustainable Omega-3 production

Scottish biotech startup MiAlgae has raised £14m ($18.6m) to build an industrial-scale production facility for its innovative Omega-3 feed ingredient, cultivated from whisky byproducts. The company’s process provides a sustainable alternative to fish oil, helping reduce reliance on diminishing wild fish stocks in the aquaculture industry. MiAlgae’s expansion will increase production capacity and create green jobs. The funding will accelerate commercialisation and address the growing global demand for Omega-3s in aquaculture, pet food, and human health sectors. (We Are Aquaculture)
