Morgan State's PEARL receives $600,000 to boost clam aquaculture

Morgan State University's Patuxent Environmental and Aquatic Research Laboratory (PEARL) has been awarded over $600,000 in grants from the Maryland Sea Grant and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The funding will support two key projects: advancing soft-shell clam aquaculture in the Chesapeake Bay and enhancing climate resilience in underserved South Baltimore coastal communities. The initiatives aim to diversify Maryland's aquaculture industry and create "blue spaces" to improve health and climate resilience. The grants are part of a broader $1.25m investment in environmental and sustainability research across Maryland. (Morgan State University)
