New partnership to advance floating wind turbines in Japan

Taisei Corporation has partnered with renewable energy consultancy OWC under a two-year master services agreement to develop a floating offshore wind project in Japan. The project, awarded by Japan's New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), focuses on advancing concrete semi-submersible floaters to reduce costs and enhance the local supply chain. OWC will provide technical and engineering support, including advice on manufacturing, operations and maintenance. This collaboration aligns with Japan's target of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and deploying 45 GW of offshore wind by 2040. OWC has been active in Japan since 2020, contributing to over 330 global offshore wind projects. (4c Offshore
