New recycling facility for 'unrecyclable' plastics could cut down emissions by 80%
Mura Technology is opening its first commercial-scale HydroPRS advanced plastic recycling plant in Teesside, UK. The facility will process previously "unrecyclable" flexible and rigid mixed plastics into recycled hydrocarbon feedstocks. The plant has the capacity to produce 20,000 tonnes per annum of recycled liquid hydrocarbon products, with potential for expansion. Independent assessments suggest the process diverts plastics from incineration and saves up to 80% of carbon emissions. The technology allows for multiple recycling cycles, contributing to a circular economy. Mura Technology plans to have 1 million tonnes of annual recycling capacity by the end of the decade. (
