Nordic Innovation supports project exploring co-location of floating wind and fish farms

Nordic Innovation is backing the OffWoff project, which explores the feasibility of co-locating floating wind and fish farms. Freja Offshore, a key partner, is developing the Mareld floating wind farm, which could also support salmon farming. The plan involves placing fish cages between wind turbines, with each system producing 6,000 tonnes of fish annually and creating 60 jobs. Offshore fish farming benefits from fewer parasites and better water quality. Project partners include Subfarm, DHI, and the Blue Maritime Cluster, with a focus on sustainability and enhancing marine biodiversity while using the ocean's resources responsibly. (The Fish Site)
