# UK offshore energy sector set for 50% job growth by 2030: report

The "Economy & People Report 2024" by Offshore Energies UK (OEUK) underscores the significant economic impact of the UK's offshore energy sector and the necessity of a homegrown energy transition. With supportive policies, capital investment in offshore energy could increase by over 50%, from £13bn ($16.5bn) last year to more than £20bn by the early 2030s. Such growth is vital for achieving the UK’s net-zero goals and ensuring energy security. The report projects nearly 50% job growth in the sector, estimating employment to rise to 225,000 by 2030, supporting the economy with significant contributions and taxes.
