Rabobank's 2024 aquaculture outlook

The global aquaculture market is expected to see better supply of salmon and fishmeal in the first half of 2024, but low market prices for shrimp may become "the new normal," according to a report from Rabobank. The salmon industry is anticipated to remain the most profitable aquaculture sector, driven by strong demand, while the shrimp sector is expected to struggle with low prices and weak Chinese import demand. The outlook for fishmeal has improved due to better fishing conditions in Peru and lower prices for alternative commodities such as soybean meal. (Global Seafood Alliance)
