SAIC to contribute £300,000 for aquaculture research projects

The Sustainable Aquaculture Innovation Centre (SAIC) in Scotland will support seven research projects, with a combined value exceeding £860,000, focused on fish health and wellbeing initiatives in 2024. SAIC's funding, over £300,000, will be supplemented by support from commercial partners. The projects cover gill health in Atlantic salmon, parasite management, cleaner fish health and welfare, and disease management through immunisation and vaccinations. The research, set to begin in early January, aims for completion by summer. SAIC has funded over 100 aquaculture innovation projects to date, with a total value of nearly £71m, involving 92 project partners. (Scottish Financial News)
