# Scotland and Chile strengthen aquaculture ties

Scotland's Cabinet Secretary Mairi Gougeon's recent visit to Chilean aquaculture operator Lago Sofia highlights a new initiative to enhance collaboration between Scottish and Chilean aquaculture sectors. During her tour, Gougeon emphasised the importance of sustainable growth, environmental stewardship, and community engagement in aquaculture. Lago Sofia's use of advanced Recirculatory Aquaculture System (RAS) technology exemplifies these principles. The visit, part of the Blue Bridge programme, aims to facilitate technological, academic, and production exchanges, reinforcing aquaculture's role in Scotland's economy while ensuring its sustainability.
