World's largest seawater to alternative fuel facility set to open in California
Equatic, a Boeing-backed startup based in California, is poised to open the world’s largest facility dedicated to transforming seawater into alternative fuel, thereby reducing carbon emissions significantly. This innovative technology not only extracts carbon dioxide from both the ocean and the atmosphere but also produces hydrogen, a cleaner fuel alternative. The new plant, set to be constructed in Singapore, aims to capture approximately 3,650 metric tons of carbon dioxide annually while generating over 100 tons of hydrogen each year. The facility's dual functionality highlights a significant advancement in clean energy production, using a process that has the added benefit of mitigating global warming. As the plant prepares for operation, it will serve as a critical test for the durability of this technology with seawater inputs, which pose a greater challenge than freshwater. (
