Shanghai to implement offshore wind to green hydrogen technology

The municipal government of Shanghai has announced plans to develop an offshore wind-to-hydrogen pilot project as part of its 2023-2026 work plan. The project aims to support offshore wind farms that produce green hydrogen during high-fluctuation power output conditions. This surplus hydrogen production can help address peak power demand, and the initiative is expected to contribute to potential standards for "peak shaving" using hydrogen-fuelled power.
