Shipping industry sets out sustainability plan at COP28

The 'Shaping the Future of Shipping: Delivering a Net Zero World' summit at COP28 convened over 300 leaders from the global energy-maritime value chain to address the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) net zero strategy. With participants from 30 nations, the summit aimed to achieve robust regulatory outcomes at the IMO negotiations in March 2024 (MEPC81) to meet ambitious net zero targets by 2050. Discussions focused on advancing infrastructure, fuel availability, and financing to support decarbonisation in the shipping industry. The summit, hosted under the patronage of the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, sought collaborative solutions to accelerate progress toward net zero. (Seatrade Maritime)
