TECO begins hydrogen-fuelled passenger ship development
Norwegian cleantech company TECO 2030 and 13 European partners have launched the Zero Emission Adriatic Ship (ZEAS) project, aimed at developing, validating, and showcasing a hydrogen-fuelled, zero-emission passenger ship. The project, supported by the EU Horizon programme with a grant of over €13.5m ($14.7m), will focus on a full-scale demonstration of a hydrogen fuel cell-powered system tailored for maritime use. Key activities include designing and constructing the ship, developing hydrogen distribution, storage, and bunkering solutions, and conducting sea trials to ensure compliance with certification standards. The project will also assess environmental impact, emissions, and safety, and employ advanced digital technologies. (
