Uber launches first of three hybrid ferries onto the Thames
Uber has launched the "Earth Clipper," the first of three battery-powered high-speed ferries in central London, in partnership with Thames Clipper. The Earth Clipper, which has a capacity of 230 passengers, achieves a nearly 90% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to running on conventional diesel. It operates solely on battery power within central London, recharging with biofuel power outside central London. Uber Boat by Thames Clippers aims to reduce carbon emissions by 50% by 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2040. The company also plans to introduce more hybrid or fully electrified vessels in the future. (
