Wales recieves £1m funding boost for marine, fisheries, and aquaculture industry


The Welsh Government has announced a £1m ($1.26m) funding initiative to support the marine, fisheries, and aquaculture industry in Wales, as declared by Rural Affairs Minister Lesley Griffiths. This funding, derived from the Welsh Marine and Fisheries Scheme, is designed to promote environmentally and economically sustainable growth within the sector and aid the prosperity of coastal communities. The grant offers a wide spectrum of funding opportunities across 11 categories, including the enhancement of aquaculture sites, vessel equipment modernisation for reduced emissions, and professional advice on sustainability and business strategies. The funding aims to encourage research and address health, safety, and wellbeing needs within the industry. Applications are open until 10 May 2024, with awardees to be announced in July 2024.
