      World's first ammonia-powered containership


      Yara Clean Ammonia, North Sea Container Line, and Yara International have collaborated with CMB.TECH to commission the construction of Yara Eyde, the world's inaugural ammonia-powered containership. Scheduled for completion by mid-2026 at Qingdao Yangfan Shipbuilding, China, the ice-class vessel will ply routes between Norway and Germany. Supported by government funding and equipped with a battery pack, Yara Eyde aims to spearhead a zero-emission supply chain, marking a pivotal step in decarbonising the maritime industry and showcasing the potential of clean ammonia as a sustainable fuel source.
