World’s most powerful wind turbine operational in China
China’s Dongfang Electric Corporation has unveiled a 26 MW offshore wind turbine, the world’s largest in capacity and size. With a blade diameter exceeding 310 metres and a hub height of 185 metres, the turbine is designed for areas with wind speeds of 8 m/s or more. Operating at an average of 10 m/s, it can generate 100 GWh annually, powering 55,000 homes while reducing coal use by 30,000 tonnes and CO2 emissions by 80,000 tonnes. This typhoon-resistant turbine aligns with China’s goals to achieve carbon peak by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060, marking a leap in wind technology innovation. (
