X-Press Feeders to launch its first green methanol powered vessels

Shipping company X-Press Feeders, with a fleet of over 100 vessels, is set to launch its first dual-fuel vessel, Eco Maestro, in Q1 2023. The ship, the first biomethanol-powered vessel built in China, will sail from Shanghai to Rotterdam, powered by green methanol. While X-Press Feeders aims to use green methanol for the entire journey, the availability of methanol at ports globally poses a challenge. Eco Maestro will subsequently operate on a feeder network in northern Europe, and the company has a firm contract with Dutch fuel supplier OCI Global for green methanol at the Port of Rotterdam from 2024.
